Examples Of Fire Protection Services

By Edna Booker

A fire accident is the most dangerous and risky of all accidents. It could cause destruction of property worth millions, it could cause mass loss of lives and most scary of all, it spreads fast over flammable materials. Due to the threat that is paused by this risk, fire protection services are put in place to help people manage the situation when it occurs. These services are systems set in place to prevent the blaze and stop it before it causes damage to property. It also has guidelines that are followed to avoid panic among the people that could result in casualties.

When you hear of blaze protection, there are three levels involved during the process. One of these levels is the passive safety. This is a combination of different preventative measures that are enforced on a structural level of construction. In this level of blaze safety, builders are supposed to consider the possibility of a fire breakout; they do this by using very little or no flammable material in the structure of the building. This strategic measure ensures that the blaze does not spread from one room.

Use of fireproof material to coat the surface of building is another passive safety measure. The idea here is to prevent a scenario where it gets to electrical wiring and gas pipes that could cause a disaster. The most used material is endothermic paint. This is used to paint the walls of places like kitchens where it is likely to start.

Another form of passive protection is use of firewalls. This are specially designed to separate or divide sections of buildings. They can also be used as a border between two buildings to make sure that if it starts in one, it will not spread to the neighboring ones. The logic behind this is to have control over the scope of the blaze in order to know how best to contain the threat.

The other level of protection is active safety. As the name states, this are active components that are triggered by a blaze. These systems are put in place in case a fire occurs they can act as the emergency response. Such a system is the detection system. These systems detect rises in temperature well as smoke in the air and sounds an emergency alarm to warn people of a blaze in the building.

Another example of active protection is the use of water sprinkler systems. These systems are used to help reduce the growth of a fire which increases the safety in the building. They do this by use of sensors that detect the presence of a blaze and then set the sprinkler off in any area where the blaze has been detected. They are connected to a water source at all times and this makes them a very reliable safety measure.

Education is very important. The health and safety of all people in case of any blaze depends largely on how they respond to the alert. In most places there are signs put up containing instructions that should be followed in case of a blaze.

When it comes to fire protection, everyone is a stakeholder. For this reason, you should always do whatever you can to ensure that you are playing your part.
