By Matthew Wood

Access doors are a necessity where construction is concerned. There shouldn t be a building or Modular Church Buildings that doesn t have one incorporated into the design. In most instances, they take the form of a white, metal door which is placed strategically in specific areas. They are infrequently used and would otherwise be closed off with drywall which would have to be broken in the event of damage or maintenance.

Access doors are not a new feature, they have been used throughout time and can be traced back to ancient times. People during that era often made use of fabric curtains to keep unsightly areas hidden from view or to keep their valuables out of the public eye. Possessions were often hidden within holes in the ground or cave-like nooks that were closed at the front by a rock. Through history, development in construction, design and technology has changed the appearance of access doors somewhat but the application has remained very much the same.

Rising damp in walls is a concern and if left untreated could lead to structural instability.
